Music & Worship Ministry

The New Hope Music and Worship Ministry exists to create an environment that invites people to worship and seek life change. Unless otherwise specified, contact Chris Sammond at chris@newhopeonthehill.com if you have an interest in any of the following ways to serve God at New Hope:

Praise Choir

All New Hope members with a desire to worship are strongly encouraged to become a member of the Praise Choir, regardless of vocal ability or experience. For adults and teens in grades 10 or above, Worship Choir members gather on Sunday mornings on the worship stage at 10:30 AM.

Praise Vocals, Praise Band

This team of lead singers, harmony vocalists and rhythm section rehearses weekly, so a firm commitment is required to be a member of the Praise Team. As vocalist and instrumentalist positions open up, auditions are held in private.

Worship Offering

Singers and instrumentalists interested in performing a solo in a worship service must be a member of the Praise Choir, Praise Band or Praise Vocals with an excellent attendance record. Accompaniment tracks on cassette or electronic media should be transferred to a C.D. prior to the required Sunday morning run-through of the song. If performing as part of a small group, all members must be present for the run-through.

Drama Team

Actors, actresses, puppeteers, stage designers, camera operators and many other dramatic arts personnel are invited to join the New Hope Drama Team. The team meets once a month to discuss skits (live or recorded) and to rehearse. The team also serves as the core for any drama personnel needed for large-scale productions presented by the church, and receives first consideration for acting parts and behind-the-scenes positions. Youth Praise Team

Youth-aged members (grades 7 and up) of New Hope that have a desire to sing are encouraged to join the Youth Praise Team. The Youth Praise Team meets once a month to discuss worship-leading techniques and to rehearse songs for worship-leading services and events on and off the New Hope campus.

Tech Team (Audio, Video)

Adult New Hope members with experience and/or interest and a willingness to be trained in the technical worship arts are encouraged to join the New Hope Tech Team by emailing Lou Behner at lrbuehner@aol.com (audio) or Tina Thompson at tinad1113@aol.com (video).

Kids Choir

In the worship ministry, there’s a place for New Hope kids, too! The Kids Choir presents the annual Christmas and VBS musicals, and is comprised of kids in grades 1 through 6.

Christmas Carolers

All church members and friends are invited to join the Worship Ministry participants each year as they carol at Bethesda North Hospital and/or for our church family shut-ins.
